Mireh Soueidan, Lebanon

<< Previous   |   Next >>

(LEBANON) Behind Mireh Soueidan is her family’s tobacco field and small nursery, which is located in Kalaa in Tyre district in Southern Lebanon. During the war between Lebanon and Israel, the field and nursery were infested with unexploded cluster bomblets, preventing Mireh’s family from carrying out their daily work there. The whole season will be ruined. The economic impact of unexploded cluster bomblets will be severe in Southern Lebanon, as many farmers are unable to utilize their land in a region which depends on agriculture for 70% of its income.
